Third campsite for Iris Parc

Hull – 18 October 2011. By buying the campsite Château de Galaure, Iris Parc has added a third campsite to its portfolio. On 4 October 2011 the campsite in the South of France, in the Drôme department, was officially handed over to the Dutch company.

New trump card in south eastern France
Château de Galaure is the third campsite in the Iris Parc chain, after Le Chêne Gris in Pommeuse (near Paris) and Le Grand Dague near Périgueux (Dordogne). Château de Galaure is the new trump card for Iris Parc in spreading the company's philosophy.

The existing infrastructure and beautiful surrounding countryside are a good base for developing a full Iris Parc campsite in the near future. Even before the start of the 2012 season, the facilities for children up to the age of 16 years will be extended. After the transfer there will be an immediate start of building works to create a playground and an indoor playground for children. The artificial river that has been such a success at the campsite Le Grand Dague is also planned for 2012 on this new campsite.

Attractive area
Camping Château de Galaure is located close to the village Châteauneuf-de-Galaure, beside the small Galaure river and some 80km south of Lyon. The village is only a few minutes' walk from the campsite. Apart from the wonderful nature the Drôme department (in the Rhône-Alpes region) has to offer, the surrounding area offers a range of tourist attractions. One such is the nearby 'Palais Idéal', a fairy tale castle in eastern style that a French postman built by himself. On the other side of the Rhône valley is the Ardèche department with the city of Annonay. This is where the annual hot balloon festival is held in honour of its inventors, the Montgolfier brothers.

Holland gives campsite Le Grand Dague a high rating

Campsite Le Grande Dague in the French Dordogne region has been awarded a high rating of 8.5 by the national Dutch tourists organisation ANWB. This result was due to recent upgrade of the campsite facilities.

Ambitious renovation
The campsite was purchased in 2008 by the Iris Parc organisation, which is part of the Vacansoleil group. An ambitious renovation project was put in place by the end of that year in order to transform it into a top class family campsite. Le Grand Dague now meets all the required high standards that are expected by Iris Parc.  The Dutch ANWB tourist organisation has awarded the campsite an outstanding high rating as a result.

New facilities
All facilities have been renewed, including the construction of a new covered children's playground.  In addition, there is a large shallow lagoon-style pool with a huge pirate ship. Facilities such as the large swimming pool, sanitary building and restaurant are all new.  Other facilities at the campsite have been modernised such as the shop, TV room, table tennis, mini-golf, jeu de boules track and Wi-Fi.

Last year a big new waterslide was built at campsite Le Grand Dague. From 25th May there will also be a new multi sports ground and an artifical river.

Child friendly
Due to the campsite's central parking facility there are no vehicles on the campsite, making Le Grand Dague a safe and child-friendly campsite.   In addition, multi-lingual staff are present in high season. The entertainment is provided by the free Camping Kids programme, which offers professional entertainment for all ages.

Wide choice
Le Grand Dague is situated in a forested area, close to the village of Atur and only 6km from Périgueux, the historic capital city of the Dordogne region. The campsite now has 242 spacious pitches. Guests can use all the facilities and bring their own tent, camper or caravan but the campsite also offers rental of luxury mobile home with 2 or 3 bedrooms with their own shower and toilet and family tents for up to 6 people.

NB:
ANWB is the official Dutch tourist organisation. The UK equivalent is ABTA.
ANWB also provides motorway assistance and shops selling tourist equipment. They book holidays, sell road maps and provide holiday information. Their campsite guides are not sponsored and are most popular in the Netherlands.
