The latest addition, and our pride and joy, is campsite Birkelt in the Mullerthal, in the eastern part of Luxembourg. Also known as ‘Little Switzerland’. It is a spacious 5-star campsite a few kilometres from the village of Larochette. Birkelt is hidden in the wooded hills and presents itself only as you drive up the small country road.
A unique swimming pool
The first thing you see when you arrive at the campsite is the big dome that houses the pool. The swimming pool is covered, but if the sun comes out to play the dome can be opened. So that means water fun in any weather. The grassy area around the pool is where you can top up your tan.
The campsite restaurant is known locally for its delicious dishes, inspired by French cuisine. You can dine both inside and outside on the big terrace. Fancy a quick bite in your own space? Take-away meals are also available.
An active holiday
The campsite offers all kinds of possibilities to be active. Let’s start with the kids. For them there is a great entertainment team with its own hangout, a large playground, trampolines, an open air cinema and mini golf. Of course parents can join in with the evening entertainment and keep fit with volleyball, tennis or football.
The pitches are spacious and in a green setting. Behind the campsite is a footpath that offers a stunning view over the village. Mountain bikers can start a spectacular route from here. The Luxembourg countryside with meadows, woods and rivers is just waiting to be explored.
Iris Parc often has very good offers that you can take advantage of. During low season you can enjoy our free nights. This special deal is a standard one that we offer each year. Throughout the rest of the year we have additional special deals with attractive discounts.
What type of deals?
What kind of deals and offers are there? As you would expect, there are last minute offers in the spring and summer holiday periods. If you book at last minute it can save you lots of money. Autumn is also a time for great value camping holidays. Enjoy a cosy stay in a luxurious mobile home in Paris or Luxembourg. Another option during the main holiday season is accommodation that becomes available due to cancellation. It is always worth checking just before you want to book a last minute trip. Once again, there is a chance of high discounts.
Themed package deals
Iris Parc often organises package deals. Think for example about Halloween. Book a package created by us and enjoy nice extra’s for a small price. During big sports tournaments like the European Championship or the World Cup we’ll often offer attractive package deals that include meals or themed nights for example.
Luxembourg is small, but is packed with sights and natural highlights. The area where the campsite is located (Mullerthal) is also called ‘Little Switzerland’ and that sounds very interesting. Here you are in a fairylike landscape with impressive rock formations and caves. Perfect to discover on foot or by bike. The highest waterfall in Luxembourg is something you can’t miss. The magnificent “Schießentümpel” is reached via a footpath.
The village of Larochette is just 1km from the from the campsite. It is an old village with an impressive ruin that stands high above the centre. The market square, “Place Bleech”, is where it all happens. There are many terraces to choose from and you can enjoy a real Diekirch beer.
And what else?
The capital of the Mullerthal region is Echternach, the oldest town in Luxembourg. Here you can visit the Roman villa, abbey and the cultural centre of Trifolion. Of course you can also go shopping and relax on one of the terraces. Mersch is a very popular place with walkers. The beautiful landscape, with natural springs and prehistorical caves, is prefect for this.
The green capital of the Grand Duchy is about 27km from the campsite. That's the big advantage of holidays in a small country. You can really see everything a country has to offer. Luxembourg City is known for its Casemates, old underground defenses. Shopping here is just amazing and it is difficult to make a choice from the many museums.
Our luxurious accommodation
At Iris Parc there is something to suit each type of camper. Do you like camping, but with all the luxury of home? Then one of our mobile homes is ideal. Always equipped with your own shower, toilet and kitchen. Some even have 2 bathrooms. The bedrooms always have comfortable beds, usually with pillows and duvets. The only thing you have to bring along are sheets, pillowcases, towels and your own belongings of course. Enjoy a fresh baguette on the (partly) covered veranda in the morning, and then perhaps have a BBQ there in the evening.
A tent with real beds and a kitchen
Looking for something luxurious, but more like real camping? Then spend your holiday in a fully equipped bungalow tent. As soon as you enter the tent you are back to the traditional style of camping. Only this time there are no (flat) air beds and basic one-pot meals cooked on a single burner. In our tents (choose from the Navajo and the Ottawa) you’ll sleep in real beds and cook in your own kitchen, complete with a 4 burner hob and fridge. The tents are so spacious that you can stand upright and there is plenty of space to store your belongings. At night just flip a light switch, so no hunting around for a torch. True camping luxury!
Pleasant, spacious pitches
Of course a holiday using your own tent or caravan is always a pleasant and familiar experience. You can book a very spacious pitch on all of our campsites. Le Chêne Gris, Le Grand Dague and Le Château de Galaure offer 2 types of pitch: the standard pitch with 10A power and the pitch Comfort with 16A power, cold water supply and drainage. On Birkelt you have a choice of 3 types of pitch.
