5 Stars for Le Grand Dague!
Le Grand Dague has been given a 5th star in september 2018! The swimming pools have been upgraded, the bar and restaurant renovated and there is a new ice cream parlour. We’ve expanded the pitches to 80 and added new Safari tents and Glamping mobile homes. No wonder this campsite is one of the favourites of our customers.
What facilities are there?
There is lots to experience around the reception, but first you have to settle into your accommodation or set up on your pitch. The car can be parked next to the accommodation while you unpack, making life easy. Then it is time to discover the campsite. For children it is a true paradise. An air trampoline, a water playground, a really cool waterpark and, very important, a great entertainment team. And the beauty is that all these facilities are very centrally located, so you can always keep an eye on your kids.
New restaurant for campsite Le Grand Dague
Enjoy a delicious meal and a drink in the popular restaurant that is being completely renovated to offer more space, light and a large covered terrace that will have a magnificent view over the valley. In order to do this, the snack bar, shop and bar had to be replaced. We took this as an opportunity to renovated these facilities at the same time. Order a quick bite at the snack bar or pick up your daily needs in the new shop.
During the evening…
In the evening the central square is the place to be. You can enjoy a nice dinner here. French fries, a pizza or à la carte: the choice is yours. In the meantime you can enjoy spectacular shows given by the entertainment team and have a pleasant drink afterwards in the bar. Actually you don’t even have to leave the campsite, there is more than enough to do and experience on-site.

What kind of deals and offers are there? As you would expect, there are last minute offers in the spring and summer holiday periods. If you book at last minute it can save you lots of money. Nearby Le Grand Dague
Everyone is fond of the Dordogne, that beautiful region with famous caves, dreamy villages and a thousand and one castles. And also excellent campsites. The French themselves speak with great affection about the Périgord. In the old days, before the French revolution, that was the official name of the region.
Excursions from the campsite
The Dordogne is located in the south-west of France. Travel guides divide this area in 4 regions: the white, the purple, the black and the green Périgord. Each region has its own charm and history. There is so much to visit and discover from the campsite. One of the most famous and important sights is the cave of Lascaux with its 15.000 year old drawings. A unique insight into the prehistory of this region. A stone's throw away is the old Roman city of Périgueux. Interesting to walk through and on Wednesdays you can shop at the typical French market.
The region for canoeing
The Dordogne river is famous amongst canoeists. It is not only a challenge for the experienced, beginners can also have a great time here. There are many different routes, varying in length. You can find starting points everywhere where you can rent a canoe or kayak. If you prefer, you can also join a guided canoe trip along the Dordogne.
Culinary treats in the Dordogne
Truffles, foie gras, mushrooms and confit de canard… just some examples of the culinary specialties from the Dordogne. These regional dishes give gourmets the holiday of a lifetime. And don’t forget the famous Appellation Contrôlée wines from Bergerac. Can’t you just imagine yourself sitting on a terrace sipping a nice glass of wine?

Our luxurious accommodation
At Iris Parc there is something to suit each type of camper. Do you like camping, but with all the luxury of home? Then one of our mobile homes is ideal. Always equipped with your own shower, toilet and kitchen. Some even have 2 bathrooms. The bedrooms always have comfortable beds, usually with pillows and duvets. The only thing you have to bring along are sheets, pillowcases, towels and your own belongings of course. Enjoy a fresh baguette on the (partly) covered veranda in the morning, and then perhaps have a BBQ there in the evening.
A tent with real beds and a kitchen
Looking for something luxurious, but more like real camping? Then spend your holiday in a fully equipped bungalow tent. As soon as you enter the tent you are back to the traditional style of camping. Only this time there are no (flat) air beds and basic one-pot meals cooked on a single burner. In our tents (choose from the Navajo and the Ottawa) you’ll sleep in real beds and cook in your own kitchen, complete with a 4 burner hob and fridge. The tents are so spacious that you can stand upright and there is plenty of space to store your belongings. At night just flip a light switch, so no hunting around for a torch. True camping luxury!
Pleasant, spacious pitches
Of course a holiday using your own tent or caravan is always a pleasant and familiar experience. You can book a very spacious pitch on all of our campsites. Le Chêne Gris, Le Grand Dague and Le Château de Galaure offer 2 types of pitch: the standard pitch with 10A power and the pitch Comfort with 16A power, cold water supply and drainage. On Birkelt you have a choice of 3 types of pitch.
